Plans to form a Neighbourhood Development Plan for Pocklington have moved a step closer after Pocklington and the Pocklington Industrial Estate was designated as a Neighbourhood Area.
Pocklington Town Council, with the backing of Barmby Moor Parish Council, submitted an Area Application to East Riding Council in October last year for the purposes of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan for Pocklington. East Riding Council has now approved the designation of the Pocklington Neighbourhood Area.
The decision comes after a six-week consultation was held from 13 January to 24 February this year so that people living, working and carrying out business in Pocklington and the industrial estate could let East Riding Council know their views on the proposed area. The majority of responders were fully supportive of the proposal.
To help the town council create a Neighbourhood Plan, questionnaires were delivered to every household in Pocklington, Barmby Moor and all businesses on the industrial estate earlier this year. Town clerk Richard Wood said: “We are still collating details of the questionnaires that were sent out. It isn’t too late to return them now to the town council office.”
The next stage is for the town council to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan. This work has already started and will involve consultation with residents and stakeholders.
