A PUBLIC meeting will take place in which a former Humberside police chief will discuss policing in the area.

Paul Davison, who is running for the role of Police and Crime Commissioner with Humberside Police, is paying a visit to the Driffield Business Centre, Skerne Road, Driffield, today (Thursday) at 2.30pm.

Mr Davison, an independent candidate for the role of Commissioner, was also on the streets of Driffield talking to the public about their views of the police in their communities.

Mr Davison said: “I have had a really good reaction already about people who want a different style of policing which is much more local.

“If you are going to vote for somebody you need to meet them. It is important to meet the public because you need to spend some time talking to them about the point of the election and also for the public to tell me what they want.”

The election for the Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner role is on Thursday 15 November.

Other candidates are John Prescott representing Labour, Matthew Grove representing the Conservatives, independent candidate Walter Sweeney, Liberal Democrat candidate Simone Butterworth, Godfrey Bloom, the UKIP representative and Neil Eyre, an independent candidate.
