A Market Weighton resident will be pulling on his running shoes for charity this weekend.
Jon Lewis will run his first full marathon when he tackles the Plusnet York Marathon on Sunday in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care and Macmillan Nurses.
He said: “Last year, one of my colleagues, Steve Crosby lost his battle with cancer, both Steve and his family were given tremendous support by both these organisations.
“I, too, have had a similar experience and everybody I have talked to about these two organisations are full of thanks and praise. This is an opportunity for myself and anybody who supports me to say thank you.”
Jon has already completed the Jane Tomlinson 10K series of runs in Hull, Leeds and York as well as the Great North Run this year.
“When I heard that there was to be a York Marathon this year, I saw the opportunity to take part in what is going to be my one and only marathon,” Jon added.
