A new eco-friendly nursery will open its doors this Easter in South Cave.
The brainchild of Janina and Matthew Simpson, and managed by Becky Dexter, the day nursery will cater for children aged from two to five years old.
The light and airy building, which has water butts, solar panel heating and environmentally friendly construction, offers spacious activity areas where children have room to manoeuvre and play. Outside its acre site children can explore the nearby woodland in a supervised but uninhibited manner.
There is also an allotment where youngsters can plant vegetables and watch them grow.
Mrs Simpson is quite taken aback by the number of people who have attended not once but twice over their two-day open days.
She said: “It was lovely to see grandparents and parents coming with the little ones, only to return [the next day] with other family members who have signed up straight away from 14 April when we open.
“I think it’s because my husband and I are busy working parents and Becky the manager has life experience worth bottling, that we really thought about what sort of environment we’d want our children to be left in for the day. I think we’ve got the right combination of toys versus a natural environment to stimulate young imaginations.”
The nursery has room for 30 children but Mrs Simpson and her team have set their maximum occupancy at 24.
South Cave Bears Nursery will open from 14 April, Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6pm.
