Jubilee mugs for all
Art and Rose gallery - children, Jessica Forman, Beatrix Nicholson, Jenson Midgley, Holly Midgley, Harry Forman, Isabel Nicholson. with Emma-Jane Whelan and Carol Gray
BURNBY village is gearing up for the Jubilee by having its youngest residents design a commemorative mug fit for a Queen.
The village’s Jubilee committee ran a competition asking children to create their own design for a mug to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this June.
Three winning designs were awarded gold, silver and bronze places, and the most suitable - a design by Rhianna Taylor inspired by the village’s signpost - is now being used to decorate a bone china mug made by Susan Rose China
Emma-Jane Whelan of the Art and Rose Gallery on Market Street judged the entries and the artwork was displayed in the gallery during the Easter holidays.
Each child resident in the village in 2012 will receive one of these special mugs as a gift from the Jubilee committee.
For more information on how to obtain a mug, or where to view the competition entries, contact Carol Gray on 01759 304439.
