Delighted members of South Cave Women’s Institute are raising the roof after renovation work on their hall roof was completed recently.
The roof was leaking water and in need of urgent attention. Since 2010, WI members have undertaken various fundraising activities to raise the funds needed to repair the roof.
The WI has also received kind donations from the Cave Players and individual members of the village community.
Last year, South Cave Show Committee donated £250, as did the parish council, which meant the WI could apply for funding from Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd (WREN).
A grant of £5,000 was applied for, with the WI matching an equal amount.
The group received the go-ahead from WREN in September 2013. Work on the roof began in October and is now complete.
Cynthia Cray, president of the WI group, said: “The hall is watertight for another generation of WI members and the people of South Cave and WREN have released the £5,000 applied for. South Cave WI is extremely grateful for their help.”
