Councillors for the Pocklington Provincial Ward are calling for improvements to be made to a popular Pocklington facility.

Francis Scaife Sports Centre swimming pool was built in 1965 and will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next summer.

The number of people using the pool is increasing year-on-year, with figures up from 346,945 in 2012/13 to 363,097 in 2013/14.

Pocklington Provincial councillors Kay West, Claude Mole and Stephen Lane are delighted with the success of the facility but feel there needs to be consideration as to whether the pool can continue to meet the needs of local people.

Full story in this week’s (17 July) Pocklington Post.
