Support was on hand recently for residents in and around Holme-on-Spalding Moor.

The village’s Community Support Day, organised by the parish council together with the Community Partnership team at East Riding Council, saw hundreds of people flock to Holme-on-Spalding Moor Village Hall and the Blacksmiths Arms pub for the informative and fun-filled event.

In the village hall, council departments that were represented include Neighbourhood Watch, YORSwitch, Carer Support Service, Trading Standards and the Lifeline Team.

There were also stalls from Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council, Health-watch and the Public Health Bus.

From Holme-on-Spalding Moor, there were representatives from the history group, archaeology group, the Methodist Church, the Christian Fellowship, Holme Relief in Need and Education Charity, the Patient Reference Group, the Health Champions, the Women’s Institute group, the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers and more.

‘The Potter Man’ Lee Steele, who has a ceramics studio and workshop in Holme-on-Spalding Moor, brought along some clay so that people could have a go at pottery.

At the Blacksmiths Arms, the youth club was open and there was a skatepark for youngsters to enjoy.

The event was attended by Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Grove.

Bethany Jenkins, lead organiser of the Community Support Day, said: “I think it went brilliantly. We had lots of people through the doors. There were definitely hundreds.

“Lots of people thought it should be an annual event.”
