The first ever food festival held at Driffield Showground proved to be a huge success, attracting about 3,000 people.
The Harvest Food Festival included food stalls, cookery demonstrations, children’s entertainment, a small craft section and an art gallery held by Driffield Art Club. Musical entertainment was provided by Westwood Brass.
A competition for best trade stand was won by Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, with Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice in second place and Floral cakes in third.
The event was so successful that organisers are already making plans for an Easter Food Festival on March 30 next year.
Nicola Frankish, events manager for the showground, said: “We had a fantastic day. It was the first time we have done a food festival on the showground and we are really delighted with it.”

The event was funded by the Coasts, Wolds, Wetlands and Waterways Leader Local Action Group.
Showground organisers are now preparing for their next major event, the Game and Country Fair which will be held on September 29 and 30.
