Four girls from the Ranger Guides in Pocklington appeared on stage at the Grand Opera House in York to receive their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh awards.

The girls, Bethany Anderson, Lauren Price, Emily Roberts and Emily Narey, along with Libby Wright, are now well on their way towards their silver awards.

The comedian Aiden J Harvey and actor Rob McVeigh, who are starring in Snow White, presented the girls with their certificates.

Bronia, Ranger Leader, said: “We contacted the Grand Opera House to see if they would allow this to happen and they were more than willing to oblige.

“The girls were so excited, yet nervous about going up there but did well. We are so proud of them – they have put a lot of effort into this award and deserved the special ceremony”.
