Percy and Katharine Stewart travelled extensively in the Americas over a period of many years.
This week’s artefact is American but, ironically, was not one of Percy’s souvenirs from his travels on that continent.
It is a tobacco pipe with the bowl in the shape of a native American head. It has a straight stem carved from wood and is painted in polychrome.
