Exhibit of the Week: Tobacco pipe and bowl

Tabacco pipe and bowl in the shape of a native American head

Percy and Katharine Stewart travelled extensively in the Americas over a period of many years.

This week’s artefact is American but, ironically, was not one of Percy’s souvenirs from his travels on that continent.

It is a tobacco pipe with the bowl in the shape of a native American head. It has a straight stem carved from wood and is painted in polychrome.

Full feature in this Thursday’s new-style Pocklington Post (6 February).
