A community dance school has donated £300 to Bowel Cancer UK after raising hundreds of pounds at its charity dance show.

Starbrite Dancentre, based near Shiptonthorpe, raised a total of £692 from ticket sales for the show, and £300 of that has been given to Bowel Cancer UK. The other £392 will go St Gemma’s Hospice.

Bowel Cancer UK volunteer John Whelpton, who is a survivor of bowel cancer, collected the donation from the dance school.

Starbrite manager Leanne Frear said: “We were very pleased with the amount raised. The show was brilliant. The children thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Starbrite will soon be releasing a DVD, and will be giving proceeds from the sales of the DVD to charity.
