A village is asking people to help unearth their history as part of a heritage project.

Shiptonthorpe community is inviting everyone to share their memories, photos and documents relating to the village.

During this project, the biggest in the history of the village, it is hoped they will create a book, a digital archive and share photos and documents of the village.

Alan Heaven, the chairman of the project, said: “We’re aiming to promote the identity of the village through history and contemporary events.

“We are keen to involve all groups and individuals in the village and interview those who have moved away.”

The project will focus on visual and oral records and be a chance to meet people and share stories, anecdotes and memories.

The official launch for the project will take place on in the Village Hall on 6 September at 2pm where people will be invited to share their recollections of the
village.
