Police were called at 10.22 this morning (Thursday 22 May) reporting that what appeared to be an empty explosives shell had been located by some builders working on West Green, Pocklington.

A police spokesperson said: “It has been established that this object was a “dud” and the EOD have taken it with them.”

Enquiries to establish the identity of the object are now being conducted.

At this time there is not thought to be any concern to the safety of the people in the area.

Road closures were in place at the junction of West Green and Canal Lane, and at West Green with Beck View. These, along with the cordon, have now been lifted.
