Birthday milestone for Carrie
Carrie Dove - 100 years old
CENTENARIAN Carrie Dove had 100 reasons to celebrate earlier this week.
Carrie Dove, who lives at the Stoneleigh Residential Home in Bielby, reached the milestoneon Monday, spending the day with family and friends.
Dale Greenaway, manager at Stoneleigh, said: “We had a party and birthday cake with all of Carrie’s family and I think she really enjoyed it.
“She’s very alert and very popular with staff and residents and still keeps a keen interest in farming matters, going out to see her boys on the family farm near Bielby.
“Carrie loves the Royal family, so she was made up when she got her card from the Queen, she’s been looking forward to getting it for a while.”
Carrie was born in 1913 to the Skinner family, who ran a master saddlers shop in Beverley.
She married Richard Dove and moved to Fimber Farm before she gave birth to twin boys Richard and Peter in 1944.
In the years after, the family travelled to Canada and Australia in search of farming opportunities before ending up back in Yorkshire and farming near Pocklington.
