We are bombarded with the time these days, whether it be the digital display on our mobile phone or the wristwatch adorning our lower arm but in most homes we still rely on the clock in the room to help schedule our busy days.

Clocks have been in the domestic environment since the 17th century. Initially their reliability was very poor but as time has passed accuracy has improved.
