Customers enjoyed a taste of Scotland at a farm shop near South Cave, which held a traditional Burns Night celebration recently.

For the second consecutive year, Drewton’s Farm Shop held a celebration of the life and poetry of the Scottish poet Robert Burns.

The evening began with a drinks reception, at which cocktails and canapés were served.

Guests then feasted on a four-course menu featuring traditional Scottish delicacies, including Cullen Skink and haggis with ‘bashed neeps and champit tatties’.

In keeping with Drewton’s commitment to championing Yorkshire food and drink producers, all of the ingredients were sourced from local suppliers.

Entertainment was provided by Pipe Major David Waterton-Anderson KSG, who was once personal piper to The Duke of Hamilton,

About 45 people packed out Drewton’s dining room on the evening.

Proprietor of Drewton’s Katie Taylor said: “It was fabulous. We had a waiting list, so we were fully booked.

“We dressed the dining room with traditional flags and tartans. The food was delicious. The chefs did us proud. The entertainment was brilliant.

“We love hosting these events. The staff enjoyed it as much as the customers.”
