Work on a £3million flood defence project in Market Weighton has been completed.

The work at Mill Beck, upstream of the town centre, has reinforced safety in the area known as Monkey Run, a disused railway embankment which stores water during heavy rainfall.

The Environment Agency scheme got underway in February last year and has taken almost a year to complete.

See tomorrow’s Pocklington Post (23 January) for the full story.
