Zumba fitness fanatics from the area put on their running gear to take part in a charity run.

Nine women who attend ‘Nikki’s Zumba Fitness’ at Burnby Hall and Francis Scaife Sports Centre in Pocklington completed the Race for Life in York.

Between them, the nine local women raised about £1,500 for Cancer Research UK.

Thousands of women took part in the 5k run on the Knavesmire.

Nikki Turvill, who runs Nikki’s Zumba Fitness, said: “We all enjoyed it. When we first started training back in March, a few of the girls were doubtful that they would be able to run the full 5k without stopping, they all did, so it was a great personal achievement for all as well as raising money for a fantastic charity. We didn’t expect to raise as much money, but are very proud and grateful that we did.”
