Businesses who supported Pocklington Lions Club’s annual Easter egg raffle have been thanked for helping to raise almost £2,000.

A number of local businesses agreed to sell tickets for the raffle, with profits from the fundraiser going to Marie Curie Cancer Care and other groups in need within the local community.

Lions Club president Graham Gillyon has presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Linda Thorpe of Linda’s Café, on the Pocklington Industrial Estate, for raising £100 by raffling an egg with her customers.

Mr Gillyon said: “We’re delighted to have raised £2,000.

“We couldn’t have done this without the help of local businesses so thankyou to those who helped us.”
