An Olympian has attended the official opening of a community mural and wildlife garden in Wilberfoss created by a dedicated group of Lifestylers.

Team GB diver Rebecca Gallantree took time out of her busy training schedule to meet ‘The Lucky Lot’ at the mural and garden, which the group have handed over to Wilberfoss Parish Council.

Wilberfoss Primary School pupils Rebecca, Evie and Latisha have been working hard all summer transforming the space at a local park for the benefit of the community.

As a result of the girls’ project, the parish council decided to invest more money in an outdoor table tennis table that has been installed in the same area as part of their Jubilee Project.

Rebecca Gallantree, who competed at the London 2012 Olympics in the women’s synchronized three metre springboard, commented in the group’s log book: “Well done girls for creating this fantastic area. I love the wall with the Olympics paintings, I especially like the diver symbol! You’ve all done a fantastic job and should be very proud of yourselves.”
