Letter: Potential loss of much-needed parking spaces

It would seem to be totally unnecessary to pinch three much needed parking spaces.

I hope that the Love Pocklington group will not be disappointed at East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s proposals to revamp the town centre. I totally agree with them and Cllr Strangeway that what is wanted are more parking spaces.

However ERYC has taken some parking space in the pavement by putting in a big loading bay, which hardly seems necessary, and worse still is proposing to take three parking spaces away on the Balk.

The reason I was given for this by a councillor was that coaches taking passengers to Burnby Hall Gardens found it difficult to reverse out and needed the space opposite to do so.

However, in all my observations I have never seen a coach reverse out. They all seem to drive in and turn round in all the large space outside the registry office then park until the passengers get back on.

So it would seem to be totally unnecessary to pinch three much needed parking spaces.
