Letter: It should be easy to tackle culvert

It would seem that Councillor Strangeway has done his research on the bund proposed for flood relief and suggests it would have “high risk status”.

One must wait to see what platitudinous explanation is offered by the director of planning.

Personally I have doubts about the efficiency of the ERYC planning department since, when the new library was being built’ the department didn’t even know the beck flowed underneath it and was very surprised to discover this, which showed a surprising lack of local knowledge.

My view is that if there is sufficient engineering skill to construct the Channel Tunnel and run a completely new underground route under London without disruption it should be quite easy to dramatically enlarge the culvert under Pocklington town centre to allow flood water to quickly escape.
