Letter: Cyclists won’t want to ride by fracking sites

Seeing all the pictures of happy faces of people on the streets to cheer the riders in the Tour de Yorkshire I could not help but wonder if, should fracking sites deface the area, the Tours would continue.

I doubt cyclists will want to ride through a countryside pitted with ugly sites or that spectators will be so keen to gather along the route if they are subjected to the fracking sites noise and smell.

There is a film followed by a talk by an eminent scientist opposed to fracking on 26 May at the Arts Centre. Unfortunately, many people know very little about fracking so I urge people to turn up to learn more about the threat to the area.
