STUDENT Katie Bentley is hoping to raise a mountain of cash for a charity climb up Kilimanjaro.
She is planning to take the trip in July next year and has a fundraising target of up to £2,000 - over half of which will go directly to Childreach International to help impoverished youngsters.
She is responsible for helping a team of 40 students taking part in the climb to reach their combined £98,000 fundraising total.
Katie said: “I have always wanted to do something like this and I’m really looking forward to the trip - especially because it will help Child International.
“I’m looking for as much sponsorship as possible and hope that the community will get behind me.”
Former Woldgate School pupil Katie will be a familiar face to many Pocklington residents as she worked in the town’s Wiltons Tea and Coffee lounge and at Sainsbury’s for three years before she left for Coventry University.
She has organised fundraising events at university and has also been selling Christmas cards at the Wolds Inn, Huggate, to boost her total.
