A popular jeweller said he will miss the friendly faces of Pocklington as he closes his store for the last time after 31 years.

Hobson’s Jewellers, of Regent Street, will shut up shop for good on Christmas Eve, after owners Kenneth and Rachel Hobson plan their latest venture.

Kenneth said: “Pocklington has been good to us,” he said, “but retail is not how it used to be. We have made too many good friends to mention.

“Rachel and I hope to have more time on our hands.”

However the couple will still carry on the repair side of business from their home at Pocklington Lane in Huggate, where they will continue to work repairing watches, clocks and jewellery as well as trophy engraving.
