An investigation is underway after a glider pilot crash landed at Pocklington airfield and was airlifted to hospital.

The incident, which is being investigated by the British Gliding Association, happened yesterday at about 5pm.

It is believed the glider was taking part in a competition run by Wolds Gliding Club at the time of the incident.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Officers were alerted after a glider crashed on landing at the airport, Pocklington, at around 5pm yesterday.

“The pilot was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary. His current condition is not known.”
