The “devastated” owners of a Pocklington ice cream parlour fear they will struggle to keep their business open this winter after being left thousands of pounds out of pocket by organisers of a music and dance festival.

Neil and Clare Saunders, who run Swirlz, on Market Place, claim they are owed £2,500 after trading at the Galtres Parklands Festival, held in Helmsley, North Yorkshire, from 22 to 24 August. They are among many traders who claim they have yet to receive the money they earned during the three-day event.

A statement on the festival’s website has revealed that Galtres Festival Trading Ltd, the subsidiary operating company which was looking after the cash, has now been placed in administration and a meeting of creditors is being organised to formalise voluntary liquidation.

Mr and Mrs Saunders have been asked to attend a meeting with the liquidators on 3 October.
