The Yorkshire Wolds Railway (YWR), the local heritage railway group aiming to reinstate part of the former Driffield to Malton Railway as a heritage and tourist attraction, has announced the results of its Grand Summer Draw.
Tickets for the fundraising raffle were sold by YWR members and at events such as Drifield Show over the summer.
A total of £750 was raised, which will help the YWR to establish its Visitor Centre near Sledmere, East Yorkshire.
The top prizes were £100 cash, a stay at The Old Lodge in Malton, and a case of wine; other prizes were a bottle of champagne, a microwave oven, an electric shower, a bottle of whisky, and a mobile phone.
The winners, in alphabetical order, were Mr G Alcock of Driffield, Mr J Artley of Bridlington, Mrs J Cornfoot of Beverley, Mrs J Hilton of Hull, Miss M Larkin of Teesside, Mrs C Mann of York, Miss C Ramsay of Hull, and Mr M Walker of Hull.
The winners have been invited to receive their prizes at an Open Meeting organised by YWR which will take place at Driffield Showground on Wednesday September 26 at 7.30pm.
As well as the prize-giving, the meeting will also feature a presentation of historical photographs of the railway.
This will be followed by a question and answer session where YWR members and members of the public can find out more about the Railway’s plans.
All who are interested in finding out more about the YWR and its plans are welcome to come and speak to volunteers at the Open Meeting, and the event is free of charge. Alternatively the YWR can be contacted at www.yorkshirewoldsrailway.org.uk or on 01377 338053.
