A NEW community group has been formed to help shape the future of Pocklington.
Pocklington Future consists of a small group of local people who will steer the process of creating a Community Led Plan (CLP) for the town.
After about 18 months, the group aims to produce a document that will detail local people’s vision for Pocklington.
Mark Ronan, the elected chairman of the group, and headteacher of Pocklington School, said: “Hopefully, some clear development and change needs will be identified which will enable the community to move forward and create that Pocklington we all want to see.”
The completed CLP will be taken into account by East Riding Council for its Local Development Framework, which will determine the shape, size and make up of the future of Pocklington.
Mr Ronan wants as many members of the community to get involved with the CLP as possible.
“Our local, constructive, input is essential,” he said.
“It is a community-based project and requires the involvement of as many local people and organisations as possible to make the final report as meaningful and representative as possible.”
Pocklington Future will be holding a number of events over the coming months which locals can participate in and express their views.
