The Hearing Dogs for Deaf charity will be holding an open day on Saturday 25 June.

National Charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is welcoming members of the public to their centre of excellence for a rare chance to see behind the scenes.

Visitors will also get the chance to meet the charity’s staff, volunteers and wonderful dogs. The national charity based in Bielby is holding the event on Saturday 25 June as part of their appeal for new volunteers this summer.

Hayley Simpson, a dog trainer at the charity’s centre in Bielby, said: “There are lots of ways that local people can volunteer to look after one of our amazing dogs.

“We need homes for our puppies, trainee dogs and older, retired companions. There are even volunteer roles for those who aren’t able to take home a four-legged friend.

“Our volunteers are incredible; they are like one big, happy family. So if you would like to get involved, please do come along.”
