Councillors representing the Pocklington Provincial Ward are urging residents to have their say on the referendum vote regarding Hull City Council extending its boundaries.

East Riding Conservative councillors Stephen Lane, Kay West and Claude Mole say that the proposed changes would have a serious impact on the future of the whole of the East Riding, including the Pocklington area.

A commission set up by Hull City Council is currently investigating a possible expansion of its boundaries. The ward councillors claim East Riding Council was never invited to take part in these discussions despite the fact that the changes, which would see parts of the East Riding absorbed in to the city of Hull, would result in the loss of 70,000 population from East Riding Council, leaving the authority financially unviable.
