A singing group wowed an audience at a village church with an operetta.

The Celebration Singers performed Gilbert and Sullivan’s ‘Trial by Jury’ to a packed-out crowd at St James’ Church in Nunburnholme.

The light opera is a story about a breach of promise of marriage.

Before the production, some popular music was sung by the Celebration Singers and a few folk songs were performed by local band, Ye Aulde Folke.

The event raised funds for St James’ Church.

Susan Currier, a member of the Celebration Singers, said: “It was really well done. Everyone had a great time.

“The church was full.”
