Market Weighton Handbell Ringers are on the lookout for new members as they tune up to resume their practice sessions in March.

The handbell ringers meet every Monday evening, except bank holidays, from 7.15pm to 8.30pm, at All Saints’ Church, Market Weighton.

The team is currently enjoying a winter break, largely due to the on-going building work within the church.

Anyone interested in playing handbells is welcome to join. Janet Peacock, secretary of the group, said: “It is not necessary to be able to read music, just to enjoy ‘having a go’ with like-minded people.”

For more details ring Janet on 01430 873661 or speak with any member of the group.

The handbell ringers recently held their annual ‘Music and Mince Pies’ concert at Market Weighton’s All Saints’ Church, featuring monologues and Yorkshire dialect poems from John Speak. The event raised £285 for church funds.
