Grandfather Fred, 72, scales the heights of Africa’s highest peak

A intrepid grandfather is feeling on top of the world after conquering the highest mountain in Africa for the second time at the age of 72 and raising £3,000 for charity.

Fred Burrow, of Wilberfoss, managed to complete the gruelling climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, which is more than 19,000 feet above sea level.

The father-of-two and grandfather-of-four first scaled the peak in 2006.
