Staff from a local supermarket donned sports gear recently as part of a charity fundraising event.
Workers at Co-op in Pocklington donned tracksuits, football shirts, cricket whites and even horseriding gear in an effort to pull in the pounds for the shop’s chosen charity of the year- Mencap.
The charity leads the way in raising cash for and awareness of people with learning disabilities.
To help raise the profile of the day, youngsters from Pocklington Infant School were invited down to mark the occasion, and were given goody bags and sports equipment to take back with them.
The day was a huge success as customers to the George Street supermarket proved to be good ‘sports’ after helping to reach a total of £475.
One staff member said: “We just had collections buckets around the shop and are really happy with the money raised, people were very generous.”
