Golfers from the area swung into action to help raise about £3,000 for charity.

Pocklington and Market Weighton Rotary Club held its 18th Annual Golf Day at The Oaks Golf Club, Aughton, York.

Proceeds from the event will go to Action Medical Research, a charity which raises funds for research into children’s diseases.

Gordon Clarke, a member of the Rotary Club, said: “We’re very pleased with how it went and the money raised.”
About 66 players competed in teams of two for the Charity Shield and the Garland Trophy.

The winners were Nigel Skelton and Richard Shouksmith, representing Walker Crisps Group Plc.
