Wolds Gliding Club donated £2,000 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance after numerous successful fundraisers.

Nearly £1,400 was raised at this year’s two-seater competition at Pocklington alone.

Air ambulance representative David Hebden, who is based in Pocklington, came along to the club to collect the donation and say thank you.

The gliding club has been supporting the air ambulance for two years.

Annette Bendelow, wife of club member Mark Bendelow, has run the York Marathon series including three 10k races, two half marathons and the York Marathon.

More than £400 has been raised on her just giving page.

The club has also donated a glider flight voucher as a prize for a free draw for all contributors to her on Just Giving and there is still time to donate and be in the draw.

Two-Seater Competition director Steve Wilkinson said: “We are very grateful to the many local businesses such as the KP Club, Alpine Foods, The Gait Inn and Judson’s Bar and others who sponsor the competition and donated prizes that we auctioned or raffled as well as for the individual donations from competitors and club members.”
