Christmas is a wonderful time for giving and loving and that is precisely what happened at Melbourne Methodist Church earlier this month.

Representatives from the church handed out cheques of £600 each to David Hebden who was representing Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Pam Smith representing St Leonard’s Hospice, a cheque was also sent to Martin House Children’s Hospice, Boston Spa.

The money was raised by teams of volunteers from the monthly sales and monthly community lunches, which serve 30 residents.

A big thank you was made to everyone who supported and helped to raise this – it’s a fantastic achievement.

A church representative said: “It’s a pleasure to meet so many different people who visit and revisit our busy church and who help us to raise these fantastic amounts of money.”
