Gift for former U3A president

MEMBERS of Pocklington and District U3A have showed their appreciation for their former president Eleanor Scott by presenting her with a gift.

To mark her service with the group, the group have bought Eleanor a garden umbrella to enjoy.

Eleanor, who is one of the founder members, was elected president in 2008 and held the post until the group’s 2012 AGM, when she stood down due to ill health.

Julian Tremayne, current chairman of Pocklington and District U3A, said: “As president, she took an active role in overseeing the work of the committee and members were sad that she felt unable to continue in the role.”

“Eleanor looks forward to many summers when she will be able to enjoy the umbrella in her garden.”
