Keen golfers across the region are invited to get into the swing of fundraising in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

The Foundation’s Pocklington and district committee is organising its annual Charity Golf Day, which will take place at The Oaks Golf Club, in Aughton, on 19 June.

The tournament will see teams of gents, ladies or mixed enjoy 18 holes of golf and compete to win prizes. The maximum handicap for ladies is 36, and for gents is 28.

Entry is £140 per team and includes a coffee and bacon sandwich on arrival, 18 holes of golf, half way house, post-tournament pie, chips and peas, and prizes for teams and ‘nearest the pin’. All money raised from the event will support the Foundation in its fight against heart and circulatory disease.

Delia Smith, a member of the charity’s Pocklington committee, said: “Our annual golf tournament is one of the highlights of our year, 92 golfers took part last year to help raise £1,800 for heart research, and we had great fun on the day. This year we’re looking forward to welcoming old and new teams for a competitive and social tournament. Taking part in events like this helps the British Heart Foundation continue to save lives every day. We’re urging golfers of all abilities to enter a team and join in the fun”.

Teams of four can register by calling Delia on 07752 616923 or email dhsmith8@btinternet.com.
