A charity which supports young people in Pocklington and the surrounding area has been given a financial boost.

Young People Count has received a cheque for £2,800.30 from Sainsbury’s in Pocklington, on The Balk.

The local supermarket spent 12 months raising funds for Young People Count, which was its previous charity of the year. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is its current charity of the year. Les Slow, chairman of Young People Count, said: “It is a such a generous donation. We are very grateful to the people of Pocklington and Sainsbury’s who have donated to us over the past year. We are temporarily based in the Community Hall near Burnby Hall and are searching for a permanent home.”
