Businesses and schools got into the spirit of Comic Relief recently.

Pocklington Prep School held a cake sale, sold red noses and accessorised their uniform with something red.

Gemma Briggs, from the school, said: “The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the fundraising activities. We raised £761.31 for this wonderful charity by selling red noses in the run up, on the day donations and a whole school cake sale. Thank you to a number of pupils who also raised money out of school too.”

Specsavers opticians, on Pocklington’s Market Place, held a cake sale and sold red comedy glasses with hair raising eyebrows for £3, with £1 donated to Comic Relief. In total, they raised about £327 for the charity.

Staff at Pocklington’s Sainsbury’s, on The Balk, also joined in with the Red Nose Day fun by donning red outfits and noses. They took to the streets of Pocklington with a collection bucket and sold scratch cards to raise funds for the good cause.
