The Pocklington Canal Amenity Society begins its 2016 fundraising for the Restoration Appeal with a Frog Racing evening at Melbourne Village Hall tomorrow (Friday 26 February) from 7pm.

This popular event is one for all the family. Tickets are £10 which includes all your stake money, so bring your own drinks and we’ll supply the nibbles.

For tickets please ring Dick Watson on 01759 305025.

The canal boat trips start again on Good Friday and continue to the end of October on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

A spokesperson for the society said: “Come and steer a narrow boat and experience canal cruising. Longer trips are available to explore the natural delights of the lower end of the canal towards the River Derwent.

“May Bank Holiday sees the return of the Canal Head Spring Fete, with activities and displays for all the family. Further events are planned throughout the year.”
