It looked a lot like Christmas and it felt a lot like Christmas when The Friends of Warter School held their inaugural ‘Snow Ball’.

The weather outside was frightful, but the atmosphere and the revelry inside the events marquee at Langlands Garden Centre in Shiptonthorpe were simply spectacular.

The tally for the evening topped £5,000 and The Friends are now looking forward to the purchase of new iPads and books, not to mention setting the date for the next Snow Ball which has not been officially discussed but is likely to be held at the same venue.

More than 180 people shared in the fun on the evening, and dug deep to support the school. The Friends of Warter School are indebted to the sponsors (Rollits, Chris Clubley & Co, Langlands, Adkins Design, Drakes Garage, RSM, A Laverack & Son, NFU, Florida Marquees) for their generous support of the event and to all the donors of lots for the auction.

See this week’s paper (17 December) for more pictures from the event.
