THE first customer service apprentice at Beverley-based housebuilder Peter Ward Homes has successfully completed her NVQ Level 111.

Shannon Mell (19) joined the company just over a year ago as an apprentice receptionist working at the head office in Annie Reed Road, Beverley.

Shannon had 11 GCSE’s but found it difficult to secure a quality job until Peter Ward Homes offered her chance of an apprenticeship.

The company’s managing director, Peter Ward, said: “Shannon has progressed very well in her first year and is keen to expand her qualifications and experience. The building industry is well known for its commitment to the apprenticeship ethos and her NVQ achievement shows it was a good decision to offer her this opportunity.

“It’s good that companies such as ours are also looking at office-based apprenticeships, giving youngsters like Shannon an opportunity to develop their skills and further a career in administration or sales.”
