FANTASTIC Christmas treats were enjoyed by Pocklington Post readers lucky enough to win our seasonal competitions.

Pam and Nick Gaunt of Ox Close in Stamford Bridge won our free night out competition which included a York Cars return taxi journey into York, a meal at the Kapadokya Turkish Restaurant on George Hudson Street and tickets to see the Aladdin pantomime at York Grand Opera House.

Meanwhile, Tracy Smith of Pem Lane, Pocklington, scooped the fantastic Yorkshire Christmas Gift Hamper prize worth £80 kindly donated by Atkinson’s delicatessen on Pavement in Pocklington.

Pam was picked to win the night out after nominating her husband Nick as a worthy winner, saying: “Nick takes care of older and younger family members and he deserves a treat himself.

“Whatever help is asked for, he will give if at all possible.

“He makes long journeys to keep in touch with people and always has everyone’s interests at heart.”

After the night out, Pam said that they had enjoyed a ‘lovely time’.

Tracy was delighted to win the Yorkshire Christmas Gift Hamper courtesy of Atkinson’s and thanked his neighbour Elizabeth Hoyle for encouraging him to enter the competition.

He said: “My neighbour likes to enter the competitions and before she went away for Christmas she said, ‘make sure you enter that competition and we’ll split it if we win!’

“Of course, I didn’t really think that we would win so this is a lovely surprise and I can’t wait to tell Elizabeth.”

Among the seasonal treats Tracy can look forward to tucking into are a range of chutneys and preserves, cheese, wine and handmade crisps and pudding all included in the luxury hamper.
