Fab-lau-ous night set for church

A critically acclaimed folk band are set to perform at a church in Pocklington.

Winners of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award, Lau, will play at the first show jointly staged by the Pocklington Arts Centre (PAC) and All Saints Church in Pocklington since 2004.

Lau are a Scottish band made up of Kris Drever, Martin Green and Aidan O’Rourke, and have enjoyed success with their latest album Race the Loser short-listed for Album Of The Year by BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and featured in MOJO magazine.

Janet Farmer, manager at Pocklington Arts Centre, said: “We regularly work with All Saints Church, highlighted by the fact two of their events for this year’s Flying Man Festival are taking place in PAC.

“As a venue we feel it is important to work within the local community and develop strong working relationships with external groups and organisations.

“Lau are one of the most critically acclaimed folk bands currently touring and the beautiful surroundings and architecture of All Saints Church will only add to their performance.”

A spokesperson from All Saints Church in Pocklington said: “We are delighted to host such a fantastic event at All Saints.

“We are particularly pleased to work with Pocklington Arts Centre again and to welcome such a high profile and accomplished band as Lau to our unique venue. It promises to be a really special evening.”
