A former Woldgate College student is preparing to kickstart a career in the music industry with the launch of his debut album at Pocklington Arts Centre later this month.

Singer songwriter Alam, 21, has spent the last three years recording the album, ‘Trodden Ground’, at Precentor Studios in York and is eager to show Pocklington what he’s been working on.

The album was released on iTunes back in July and has already received airplay on BBC Radio York.

As Alam sets about promoting his album, activity close to home has included performing to hundreds of shoppers at the York Designer Outlet, as part of a new live music deal.

Delighted with the success so far, Alam puts it all down to the support of his family and friends.

He says: “They have all been amazing, I could not have done any of this without them.

“It’s great to be performing this show in my old school town among familiar faces, I can’t wait.”

The launch event will take place at 8pm on 28 August with special guests the Ladies Barber Shop Choir and tickets cost £7.
