Ex-committees of the now closed Allerthorpe Park Golf Club have donated thousands of pounds to charity.
Following the closure of the golf club earlier this year, members of the gents and ladies committees at the time met up to tie up some loose ends.
Among the issues they had to resolve was what to do with the funds they had accumulated, predominately from member competitions.
It was decided unanimously that the most practical and beneficial use of the funds would be to donate it all to charity.
Four charities were chosen, namely Prostate Cancer UK, The British Heart Foundation, The Golf Foundation and P.U.R.S.E.
Each charity received a donation of £2,242.
Ian Mounser, who was a gents committee member, said: “All the committee members present at the meeting were pleased that at least some significant good was coming out of sad and unfortunate circumstances.”
